THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a hard-working, detail-oriented, knowledge-seeking Staff Accountant to support our growing team. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles and able to work comfortably with numbers and attention to detail. Day-to-day activities will include detailed account reconciliations, preparing and posting journal entries, as well as researching account variances, and solving problems.
KEY JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform detailed account reconciliations in support of monthly close. Research out-of-balance accounts and trace journal entries and system-generated transactions to resolve and reconcile accounts.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable for all entities.
- Prepare and process journal entries, ensuring proper documentation and approval for all entities.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and company accounting policies.
- Assist in creating policies and procedures to streamline accounting activities within all shared service entities.
- Assist in the preparation of tax filings and support external audits as needed.
- Assist in physical inventory management.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
- Conduct financial analysis and modeling to support decision-making and strategic planning.
- Monitor financial performance by analyzing key metrics and identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Collaborate with various departments to gather financial data and provide insights to improve business performance.
- Support the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and controls.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles, able to work comfortably with numbers, and attentive to detail, with proven experience as a junior accountant.
- Recent experience actively participating in hands-on accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, month-end close, variance reviews, etc.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, or a related role.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of GAAP and financial analysis principles.
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) certification, or working towards certification.
- Experience with financial modeling and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
