Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Financial Accountant plays a crucial role within the Florence Copper organization, reporting directly to the site Controller. This position is integral to the Accounting department, providing essential financial and accounting support. The Financial Accountant will collaborate closely with both site and corporate finance teams to prepare, analyze, and report on financial statements, cost records, and various other financial documents. Additionally, this role involves coordination with multiple departments to facilitate special projects and ensure precise financial reporting. The objectives will be achieved through the timely collection, organization, and dissemination of accurate financial data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of financial and accounting reports for consolidation and submission.
  • Ensure that schedules are prepared in compliance with management directives and statutory regulations.
  • Review and enter purchase requisitions to guarantee correct classification and cost coding.
  • Reconcile bank accounts with the general ledger, including cash flow forecasts by currency.
  • Manage monthly and quarterly financial closing processes, including accruals, clearing accounts, and various adjusting journal entries.
  • Work with the site accounting team to oversee the establishment and maintenance of supplier profiles within the ERP system.
  • Collaborate with the site controller to ensure comprehensive and accurate documentation for quarterly reviews and year-end audits.
  • Engage with internal and external auditors during compliance testing (SOX), quarterly reviews, and year-end audits.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with corporate accounting, operations, and external auditors.
  • Coordinate with the site controller to maintain account setups in the ERP system (4Site) to support accurate cost collection and reporting.
  • Assist with additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Finance or Accounting; Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant accounting experience, ideally within the mining or construction sectors.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Ability to interact professionally and effectively with employees at all levels, including management, staff, vendors, and clients.
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with 4Site Enterprise Management System is advantageous.
  • Capable of analyzing and documenting work products comprehensively and promptly.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong emphasis on accuracy.
  • Ability to comprehend and adhere to standard operating policies and procedures.
  • Skilled in prioritizing and managing multiple tasks, adjusting to changing priorities as necessary.
  • Able to perform under pressure and adapt to evolving requirements with a positive demeanor.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and a strong team player.
  • Demonstrates discretion in job-related decisions and in handling confidential matters.
