Job Description

The Credit Risk Manager will provide primary support for Visa’s North America Credit Settlement Risk Team (CSR NA). Leveraging our extensive expertise in financial, credit and risk analytics, CSR ensures that short term credit settlement exposure to our clients is managed within the company’s risk appetite. The analyst will have the opportunity to participate in the broader scope of NA organization by collaborating closely with various key internal stakeholders that participate in the Visa payment ecosystem to support Visa’s growth trajectory.     

The position reports to the Senior Director, North America Credit Settlement Risk. The role also has the opportunity to lead specific projects and to be exposed to both senior and executive management by being involved in regular risk review exercises.  The candidate will regularly collaborate with NA’s credit team to manage macro factors that impact fundamental credit quality at both the client and industry level.

Role & Responsibilities:

The successful candidate provides primary credit support to the CSR NA team and include industry market research, monitoring client (banks) credit settlement exposure and associated risk mitigants.  Key responsibilities include:  

The successful candidate will have strong credit analytical skills and a deep understanding of banks financial condition using U.S. Regulatory Call Report data. Specifically, he/she will: 
Analyze and manage a portfolio of U.S. banks and a small group of credit unions with the requirement to assess the financial strength of banks and credit unions using credit rating models.

  • Diligently monitor clients that may cause concern and implement appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor risk exposures to ensure that any material uncovered risk exposures to clients are suitably addressed.
  • Prepare and deliver clear and persuasive credit assessments and be able to effectively communicate findings to both internal and external stakeholders, as applicable.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant regulations, laws, issues, trends, and ongoing developments in financial markets, particularly banks.
  • Manage and actively engage with both internal and external stakeholders to develop strategies that support business growth while addressing risk concerns.
  • Forge strong relationships and building trust with other internal teams, stakeholders, senior and executive management through active listening and a collective desire to deliver extraordinary results.
  • Identify opportunities to improve credit risk processes and procedures while taking the initiative to lead and drive change that results in measurable and sustained improvement in cost and/or quality.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5 or more years of relevant work experience with a bachelor's degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or equivalent and knowledge of Fixed Income markets. MBA, CFA (first level exams successfully completed), or experience as a Federal Bank Examiner preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years analyzing banks using U.S. Regulatory Call Reports and/or SEC 10Q/K financial disclosure as baseline data points.
  • Proven track record and ability to network, engage and influence senior and executive management.
  • Experience at both understanding and managing quantitative credit rating models (banks).
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to clearly articulate results after analyzing large scales of data to senior management as the basis for making key credit decisions.
  • Innovative and creative thinker with a proven track record of delivery and ability to manage several projects concurrently and see them through from conception to conclusion.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present clear and concise recommendations to management.


Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 118,500 to 171,750 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
