Position Summary

The Senior Credit Risk Analyst will play a pivotal role in supporting Visa's North America Credit Settlement Risk Team (CSR NA). Utilizing our extensive expertise in financial and credit analytics, the team ensures that short-term credit settlement risks are managed within the organization's risk parameters. This role offers the chance to engage with key internal stakeholders across the Visa payment ecosystem, contributing to Visa's growth and success.

This position reports to the Senior Director of North America Credit Settlement Risk and provides opportunities to lead specific initiatives while interacting with senior and executive management during regular risk review sessions. The candidate will collaborate with the credit team to navigate macroeconomic factors affecting credit quality at both client and industry levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide essential credit support to the CSR NA team, including conducting industry research and monitoring client credit settlement exposures and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Analyze and manage a portfolio of U.S. banks and select credit unions, assessing their financial stability using credit rating models.
  • Continuously monitor clients for potential risks and implement effective risk management strategies.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive credit assessments, clearly communicating findings to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay informed on relevant regulations, trends, and developments in financial markets, particularly concerning banks.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to devise strategies that promote business growth while addressing risk factors.
  • Build strong relationships and trust with internal teams and management through effective communication and collaboration.
  • Identify and drive improvements in credit risk processes, leading initiatives that enhance efficiency and quality.

Work Environment

This is a hybrid role, allowing employees to alternate between remote and office work. Employees in hybrid positions are expected to be in the office 2-3 days a week, based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree, or 2 years of experience with an advanced degree, or no experience with a PhD.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6 or more years of experience with a bachelor's degree, or 4 years with an advanced degree, or up to 3 years with a PhD.
  • A bachelor's degree in finance or a related field, with knowledge of Fixed Income markets. An MBA, CFA (completed first level), or experience as a Federal Bank Examiner is preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience analyzing banks using U.S. Regulatory Call Reports and SEC financial disclosures.
  • Proven ability to network and influence senior management.
  • Experience with quantitative credit rating models.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to present analytical results effectively to senior management.
  • Innovative thinker with a track record of managing multiple projects from inception to completion.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of providing clear recommendations to management.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies based on departmental needs.

Travel Requirements: This position may require travel of 5-10%.

Mental/Physical Requirements: The role will be performed in an office environment, requiring the ability to sit and stand at a desk, communicate effectively, and operate standard office equipment.
