The Communications Coordinator position is an opportunity for a detail-oriented early-career professional to join a growing agency. This individual will support the implementation of communication and social marketing strategies for a variety of clients, including government, nonprofit and corporations.


To accommodate in-person collaboration with Urban Emu’s DC-based team, preference will be given to candidates in the Washington DC area.


Responsibilities include:

  • Support coordination of meeting logistics, scheduling, creating agendas and taking notes
  • Attend meetings with stakeholders and provide notetaking support
  • Ensure accuracy of information across project management tools and trackers
  • Coordinate and communicate project information to internal team members 
  • Assist teams in developing and implementing communication strategies/campaigns
  • Lead the preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly reports on the status of activities and accounts
  • Support regular client communications to set and manage client expectations
  • Maintain and build customer relationships by supporting a best in class client experience
  • Assist in competitor research and analysis, development of personas and other research/analytical tasks and deliverables
  • Develop an understanding of research methods and coordinate internal and external resources
  • Assist with quality assurance and testing
  • Develop and edit content for blogs, social media and websites
  • Provide content entry, management and proofing support
  • Support operations, project management and strategy teams


Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
  • Solid account management and customer service experience
  • Familiarity with communications techniques and technologies  
  • Ability to complete multiple projects and workstreams, and meet deadlines 
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and editing skills
  • Adaptable and curious
  • Outstanding organizational abilities


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in communications or marketing


Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Understanding of communications strategies and tactics
  • Experience in project management and using project management tools 
  • Prior communications agency or firm experience
