Position Description

We are seeking a meticulous and dedicated Data Specialist to join our team. The Data Specialist will report directly to the Director of Measurement and Impact and will play a crucial role in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to program effectiveness, student outcomes, and operational metrics. This position is pivotal in helping us understand the impact of our programs and drive continuous improvement in our services. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement data collection systems and strategies to gather relevant programmatic and operational data.
  • Clean, validate, and analyze data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Generate, maintain, and refine regular reports and dashboards to communicate key metrics and insights to stakeholders, including program staff, educators, and funders.
  • Conduct statistical analyses and data mining to identify trends, correlations, and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with program staff to define data requirements and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Maintain data integrity and security protocols to protect sensitive information.
  • Support grant reporting and fundraising efforts by providing data-driven evidence of program impact and outcomes.
  • Stay informed about developments in data management and analysis tools and techniques, and propose improvements to existing data systems & processes.
  • Other duties assigned as related to the department.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field. 
  • Proven experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting, particularly in an educational or non-profit setting.
  • Proficiency in data management tools and software (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
