NTT DATA Services is currently looking for a SQL Server Database Administrator to join our team in Falls Church, VA

The Database Administrator is a senior information technology professional within NTT DATA who analyzes existing SQL Server and Azure SQL Database in Azure Cloud Environments and workloads and designs new or complementary solutions for transformed environments, implements solutions, and troubleshoots any residual issues after transformation. As part of the Transformation COE the Database Administrator will participate in early project discovery to understand the current mode of operation (CMO). The Database Administrator will then participate in the evaluation of those workloads and create a Future Mode of Operation (FMO) Design that aligns with the company's service catalog. The Database Administrator will concentrate on high-level database related duties such as database architecture, server design and extraneous dependencies. The Database Administrator performs database design reviews managing towards best practices and standards and may help develop detailed logical data models. Database Administrator must have the ability to architect, design, install, and configure large, complex databases with replication and high-availability on several MS-SQL versions. Support activities include analyzing, testing, and implementing database designs to support various business applications. Familiarity with Hardware and Operating Systems is needed to complete this job function.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with customers on Azure Cloud database managed service activities to confirm (and document accordingly) existing SQL Server Database on Azure VMs, Azure SQL Databases, Azure SQL Managed Instances landscape and develop Functional Specifications.
  • Database related performance monitoring and performance tuning
  • Manage database related data security, security compliance, and data encryption
  • SQL Server database backup/restore, patching
  • Database highly availability, disaster recovery, data replication.
  • Perform 24x7 support for SQL Server Databases, Azure SQL Databases, Azure SQL Managed Instances, etc.
  • Create new documentation and processes as needed to help refine, optimize, and/or to establish network functions and processes

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Information Technology Discipline and 5 or more years professional experience
  • Certified Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator
  • 5 years SQL Server database experience including database design, upgrades and performance tuning
  • 3 years' experience supporting SQL Server Databases with upgrade experience a plus
  • 3 years' experience with Azure SQL Databases, Azure SQL Managed Instances and maintenance following industry best practices
  • Database security and compliance
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a 24 x 7 production environment
  • Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and effective problem-solving skills
