Primary Function:
We are currently seeking a Full Time Flex (36 hours weekly) Access Coordinator who collaborates with physicians to ensure a seamless delivery of services facilitated by the pre-authorization process for all of Pulmonary Function patients. Promotes physician and patient satisfaction by minimizing their involvement with 3rd party insurance providers for preauthorization. Provides education to the physician office on imaging CPT coding. Enters authorization information into Soarian for billing.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Obtains preauthorization, in collaboration with the physicians for any pulmonary function procedure that requires it.
- Communicates patient demographic and clinical information to UM (Utilization Management) companies such as MedSolutions, AIM, NIA and/or 3rd party insurance providers, for referral and precertification requirements.
- Performs daily operational duties utilizing the Cerner, Soarian and Powerchart, computer systems as well as multiple insurance databases.
- Maintains a solid working knowledge of insurance and billing requirements related to pulmonary function procedures for maximum reimbursement of claims and to minimize financial risks.
- Performs pulmonary function scheduling, clerk duties and other related duties as required.Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Associates degree in Business/Medical related field
- Two years’ experience in a medical, financial or marketing field
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
