Duties * Serve as the Chief of the Installation Provost Marshall Office, Police Administrative Services Branch. * Advise top-level installation managers on police department issues impacting them and develops acceptable solutions to problems. * Review and evaluates staff actions for adherence to organizational policy. * Establish training programs within the department to ensure required training is conducted. * Work with Directorate of Human Resource Management on personnel actions and issues. * Review inspections reports and studies made by higher echelons and implements corrective action or makes recommendations to resolve areas of contention. * Develop implementation plans for new or changed laws, policies, and regulations affecting assigned programs. * Deliver information briefings and decision briefings to executive level personnel. * Prepare position papers on law enforcement issues for the Garrison Command Group and higher headquarters as needed. * Perform liaison with other military and civilian law enforcement agencies within the area. * Recommend solutions and coordinates implementation of major changes. * Responsible for the law enforcement operations at the installation. Requirements Conditions of Employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. * Position requires incumbent to serve a 1 year Supervisory probationary period upon entrance into the position. * Required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, Executive Branch Personnel Confidential Financial Disclosure Report upon entering the position and annually. * This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. * This position requires a Pre-employment physical. The incumbent will be required to pass an entry level and annual re-certification of the standard Army physical fitness/agility test. * The incumbent must comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP). * This is a drug testing designated position. * This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. * This position is designated as a Mission Essential position. * The incumbent must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license. * The incumbent must work irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime. * This position is subject to a two year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. * The incumbent must wear a uniform and comply with the Army Civilian Police Dress and maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene in accordance with AR 190-56. * The incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons. * The incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals. * The incumbent must have successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exemption or grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
