Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Current or Prior Permanent Federal Service Employees: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Managing police officers and conducting current/long range operations planning based on funding, staffing requirements, training, workload, trends and mission requirements in the areas of law enforcement and security functions; 2) Developing plans for law enforcement operations to safeguard the public and mitigate criminal activity; 3) Managing subordinate supervisors to accomplish law enforcement activities; and 4) Coordinating emergency responses between assigned patrol officers, fire, and other emergency units in order to respond to calls concerning reports of violations or complaints, arrest and apprehension of violators, and identifying problem areas and makes necessary changes in policies and procedures to correct deficiencies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
