Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Supervising operational law enforcement activities to ensure standards and equipment is issued and maintained, identifying developmental and training needs, coordinating emergency responses between assigned patrol officers, fire, and other emergency units in order to respond to calls concerning reports of violations or complaints, arrest and apprehension of violators, and identifying problem areas and makes necessary changes in policies and procedures to correct deficiencies. For this position, at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the second lower level (GS-09) is creditable for in-service applicants. However, for outside applicants (i.e., those without current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service), at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower level is required (GS-10). * Written Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09 or 10). Additional information * Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. * You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. * One year trial/probationary period may be required. * Direct deposit of pay is required. * Subject to possible civil actions due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the detention of individuals. * Must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons. * Successfully graduate from DA Civilian Police Academy per AR 190-56. * Successfully graduate from Traffic Management and Collision Investigation Course. * Must be a U.S. citizen and be at least 21 years of age * Candidate must successfully complete a Police Officer Field Training Program upon initial assignment to law enforcement duties. * This position does not meet the definition of Law Enforcement Officer and is excluded from coverage as Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) for purposes of the Federal Employment Retirement System-Basic Annuity IAW 5 CFR, Part 842, and Subpart H. 19. * This position is designated as a Key Position IAW AR 690-11.
