JOB SUMMARY

The Benefits Manager works collaboratively with others as well as independently to design, develop, implement, communicate and administer benefit, wellness and compensation programs that will support the attraction and retention of top talent.  The Manager conducts organized analytical assessments and evaluations to understand and/or evaluate issues in order to inform decision making, policy development, system development, management, and administration in regard to employee benefits.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Benefits:

·        Manage the administration of various employee Health & Welfare benefits plans, PTO policy, and Tuition Reimbursement. Management duties include managing operations, customer service, implementations, third party vendors, and policy/plan interpretation

·        Provides support into the design and development of existing and new benefits, as well as performs compliance and regulatory activities and reporting

·        Coordinates COBRA process with ADP or other partners

·        Coordinates annual open enrollment including communication efforts, benefit plan materials distribution and advises employees on plan provisions, and benefit fair coordination

·        Coordinates wellness program and initiatives

·        Manages employee leave process (FMLA, STD, & LTD); acts as liaison between employee and third-party vendor

·        Processes monthly invoices from insurance providers; reviews invoices for accuracy and resolves discrepancies

 

HRIS:

·        Research and resolve system and data problems; ensure measures are in place to prevent re-occurring issues

·        Centralized data entry for new hires, job and pay changes; review and approve employee changes via employee self-service workflow; runs ad-hoc reports

·        Works with other departments to ensure HRIS data is integrated with other Company systems

·        Lead upgrades activities including enhancements and process changes; conduct testing to ensure system changes are working correctly

·        Develop system automation and process improvements to improve efficiency and accuracy

 

Data Analytics:

·        Create spreadsheets to compile, extract, track and model data to formulate and summarize conclusions, predict outcomes/support business decisions; data examples include, calculating and tracking severance data, modeling data to determine merit matrices, summarize statistical data such as spouse and tobacco affidavits

 

Compensation:

·        Grow into the role to learn to administer job description and job evaluation processes, working with management across the organization to develop accurate job descriptions and analyze positions to establish appropriate job grade and FLSA status determination

·        Actively participate in compensation surveys, job matching and benchmarking; ultimately have the potential to own this process

·        Automate market matches in ADP; develop Excel spreadsheets for managers to plan and award annual merit and discretionary bonus

 

Other:

·        Assists HR Business Partner in the development, tracking & follow-up of employee relation matters dealing with performance improvement plans, exit interviews and severance agreements

·        Responds to written employment verifications and unemployment claims

·        Maintains personnel files

 

EDUCATION

·        Bachelor’s in Human Resources, Technology, Finance, or related field required

·        CBP and/or CCP preferred


 EXPERIENCE

·        3+ years in benefit administration with progression to a benefits Sr. Analyst or Manager

·        3+ years of HRIS experience (ADP Workforce Now experience preferred)

·        1+ year of compensation OR Payroll experience

 

SKILLS

·        Excellent customer service skills

·        Must be proficient with position evaluation methodology, federal/state rules, regulations regarding wage and hour laws, FLSA, Equal Pay Act, ADA, etc.

·        Must have knowledge of federal, state, and local healthcare regulations including HIPAA

·        Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

·        Must have excellent mathematical and analytical skills, including the knowledge of statistics and a high attention to detail

·        Strong written and verbal communication skills
