Bellingham, United States Spectrum Reproductive Health and Gender Affirming Care Full time

Job Description: As a Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner, you will provide inclusive, patient-centered care to our diverse patient population. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of care, with a focus on affirming and respectful treatment for the LGBTQI+ community.

About Us: Spectrum is a specialty clinic providing women's health, gynecology care, and gender affirming care to women, transgender, and LGBTQI community members. We specialize in sexual dysfunction, pelvic pain, perimenopause and menopause and gender affirming hormone therapy. We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner to join our team as an independent contractor (1099).

Spectrum started with the vision to provide radically patient centered care. To create a safe place for patients, we also needed to create a safe place for providers. We support healthcare providers in the integration of work and life for career balance, for provider sustainability - which benefits everyone.

Spectrum is a progressive healthcare provider dedicated to delivering comprehensive, affirming care to the LGBTQI+ community. We pride ourselves on fostering a sex-positive and body-positive environment where all patients feel respected and valued.

Most importantly, Spectrum is seeking humble, curious clinicians. We serve patients of all sexual and gender identities and value evidence based affirming care. As a specialty practice in two specialties that desperately need more research and options for care (gender care and sexual medicine) - our providers should be acutely aware that we don’t always have all the answers. Like most people, our patients have frequently been harmed by social and medical systems rooted in patriarchy, racism, homophobia and fat-phobia. Providers that seek to affirm patients, create safer spaces, and center the patient’s decision making and autonomy are paramount.  If being part of a team with these values sounds ideal, please reach out.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide primary and preventive care, including routine check-ups, immunizations, and health education.
  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments and develop individualized care plans.
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses.
  • Offer affirming care to LGBTQI+ patients, addressing their unique health needs.
  • Provide sex-positive and body-positive healthcare services.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
  • Educate patients on health maintenance, disease prevention, and treatment options.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.
  • Stay informed about current best practices and emerging trends in family medicine and LGBTQI+ health and reproductive health.

Job Type

  • 1099 Independent Contractor with opportunity for W2 position

Compensation

  • $60-70 per billable hour, 16hrs a week minimum
  • Option to increase to 35-40 hrs and W2 position as patient panel grows

Patient Load

  • 60 minute intake visits, 30 minute follow up visits. Option for 60 min extended visits or 60 min procedure visits as needed.
  • Typical day seeing 8-12 patients depending on scheduled visit types.

Work Setting

  • In person and telehealth visits. Willingness to travel to Bellingham as needed for initial training and then twice a month for in person patient visits. Option for more time in clinic if desired. Telehealth visits/days from provider home if desired.
  • Clinic closed weekends and holidays.
  • No call requirement

Requirements:

  • Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing with a specialization in Family Medicine.
  • Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in Washington State.
  • Board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC)  by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)
  • Valid DEA License
  • Minimum of 1 years of clinical experience in family medicine or primary care.
  • Strong commitment to providing affirming care to LGBTQI+ patients.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Desire to serve Queer community, and patients of all genders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with LGBTQI+ populations.
  • Familiarity with providing sex-positive and body-positive care.
  • Experience treating perimenopause and menopause
  • Passionate and open to continuing education regarding health at every size (HAES) model and providing trauma informed affirming care.

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation based on experience and productivity.
  • Flexible hours and competitive pay.
  • A team that supports provider work/life balance
  • Opportunity to work with a dedicated and supportive team.
  • Access to continuing education and professional development resources.
  • Mentorship in sexual medicine, gender care and reproductive health
  • Membership to the Menopause Society, expectation for provider to become a menopause society certified provider within 1 yr from hire, employer to pay for exam.
  • Paid training and membership in QueerCME Annually
