Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to become an integral part of our comprehensive cancer care team at PeaceHealth.

The oncology team at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Cancer Center comprises a diverse group of professionals, including 5 Medical Oncologists, 3 Radiation Oncologists, 2 Nurse Practitioners, Oncology Certified Nurses, Clinical Trials staff, Cancer Registrars, and various support service specialists. Our oncology physicians also provide care at satellite clinics.

This position is part of a collective bargaining agreement, and multiple openings may be available.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive and focused physical examinations, interpreting laboratory and diagnostic tests to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Order and perform necessary laboratory or diagnostic procedures.
  • Assist in surgical procedures and continuously assess patient needs with appropriate follow-up.
  • Prescribe medications and durable medical goods as permitted by state regulations.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and document progress notes regarding treatments and procedures.
  • Provide counseling on preventive care, medical issues, and prescribed treatments.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Certification: Must be board certified by the AAPA or AANP.

Experience:

  • Preferred: Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Physician Assistant.

Licensure:

  • Required: Valid Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license in Washington state, or eligibility to obtain by start date.
  • Basic Life Support certification required upon hire.

Skills:

  • Ability to apply age-specific principles of growth and development to meet patient needs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and collaboration for quality patient care.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
