About the Role: We are seeking an exceptional and visionary Ph.D.-level executive to join our team as the Head of Immune Oncology. Reporting directly to the VP of Drug Discovery, the Director of Immune Oncology will spearhead and oversee the oncology portfolio within our drug discovery programs, contributing to our mission of redefining cancer treatment.


Responsibilities:

  • Scientific, Operational, and Strategic Leadership: Provide scientific, operational, and strategic guidance for Immune Oncology Research activities at Biolojic Design. Act as a key leader within oncology leadership teams, offering critical insights to shape project plans and strategic research areas.
  • Team Development and Mentorship: Develop a culture that fosters the growth and development of individual scientists and global teams. Mentor and manage scientists and teams, ensuring adequate resourcing for workplans and projects.
  • Innovation and Pipeline Development: Champion projects and novel areas of research to maintain the competitiveness and cutting-edge science of Biolojic Design's pipeline. Establish strategies to ensure a sustainable Immune Oncology Research pipeline.
  • Scientific Expertise and Collaboration: Bring expertise in both the innate and the adoptive immune system, including T cells, Macrophages, dendritic cells (DC) and natural killer (NK) cell biology, to the development of novel cancer therapeutics. project Lead cross-functional teams and collaborate externally to advance research in tumor immunology.
  • Communication and Publication: Communicate results, conclusions, and recommendations effectively to key stakeholders. Prepare documents and reports for internal governance committees and regulatory agencies, including reports to support IND submission. Maintain a strong publication record and present at scientific conferences.
  • External Presence and Alliance: Promote awareness of the competitive environment and enhance Biolojic Design's external presence in key research areas. Establish and manage external collaborations and contribute to the assessment of external business alliances and in-licensing opportunities.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • PhD with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in leading R&D teams.
  • Strong expertise in the development of biopharmaceuticals, with a background in in vitro and in vivo experimentation and functional assay development.
  • Experience with T/NK cell engagers and/or ADCs is a plus
  • Recognized as a scientific leader with expertise in Immune Oncology, evidenced by a strong publication record in high-quality journals.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a thought leader in Immune Oncology, mentor staff scientists and postdocs, lead innovative research, and champion projects from inception to candidate drug.
  • Leadership and line management expertise, with a track record of developing strong team dynamics.
