Our client, a global leader in the renewable energy sector, is seeking a Director of Development to join their Albany, NY office as they expand operations across the U.S. This role is pivotal to driving the company’s growth, with a focus on community distributed generation (CDG) projects in the NYISO and PJM regions, while exploring opportunities in states like Minnesota, Maryland, Texas, and Pennsylvania.


The Director will lead a dedicated team overseeing the development of photovoltaic (PV) projects, starting at 7.5MWdc, with potential for larger-scale developments. Working closely with the Chief Development Officer and CEO, the successful candidate will devise and implement strategies to identify and pursue new development opportunities, ensuring seamless coordination between project origination, planning, permitting, and grid connection.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of project development managers, project managers and coordinators across multiple U.S. regions.
  • Manage the origination, evaluation, and development of CDG PV projects from start to completion.
  • Oversee commercial, legal, and technical due diligence for projects, ensuring smooth collaboration with stakeholders such as legal advisors, development partners, utilities, and community groups.
  • Support financial planning, project pipeline reporting, and forecasting for board presentations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local authorities, utilities, and other key stakeholders to secure planning permits, licenses, and grid connections.
  • Conduct environmental assessments and coordinate interconnection studies to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Identify new markets for growth, contributing to the company’s overall strategic expansion in the U.S.
