Operations Project Scheduler/ Systems Manager

Job Description Summary:

The Operations Systems Manager (OSM) is responsible for key projects that support corporate strategies, while also serving as an enterprise process improvement resource. The OSM engages all project teams to analyze feedback on existing processes and systems with a focus on identifying process gaps, non-value-added steps, and adding processes as deemed necessary to improve the system. The position provides structure and support for Project Teams while informing Leadership with metrics.


Qualifications:

  • Eight or more years of work experience in a Process Excellence/Continuous Improvement role.
  • Minimum of five years of experience leading Process Improvement projects.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in an operations environment required.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certified or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) required.
  • Strong Knowledge of Lean and Continuous Process Improvement methodology, tools, and techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in problem-solving and solution recommendation skills using the Plan-Do-Check-Adjust model.
  • Ability to use computer, printer, and software programs necessary (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Possesses strong math and statistical analysis skills.
  • Proven ability to prioritize workload, organize technical work and resources.
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage time, and plan and implement objectives effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically, recall information with accuracy, and pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure.
  • Ability to lead, supervise, teach, and accept direction.


Responsibilities:

Development of Process and Continual Improvement Management:

  • The Operations Systems Manager (OSM) is responsible for key projects that support corporate strategies, while also serving as an enterprise process improvement resource for the Operations team.
  • Audits current practices, spotlighting what works well and what doesn’t. Implements improvements that are coupled with measurable goals for the Project Teams to achieve.
  • Analyzes existing tasks and processes with a focus on identifying process gaps, non-value-added steps, and other impediments to efficient operations.
  • Leads and documents project milestone schedule progress to increase the awareness of the master project sequencing amongst project teams. Schedule milestone management is a key responsibility of the OSM for all projects, companywide.
  • Conducts research on competitors, industry reports, social media, academic content, conference materials, etc. to continuously evaluate how REEDER compares. Reports findings to senior leadership.
  • Develops, maintains, and revises work plans as appropriate for specific areas of expertise.


Training & Team Management:

  • Fosters a culture of knowledge sharing and accountability by facilitating business process management across the organization.
  • Conducts project review through field visits and interviewing project team members to extract knowledge for company use.
  • Provide simplified structure of team expectations to ensure REEDER standards are being met for; Meetings, Constraint Management, Schedule Updates, Daily Huddles, Weekly Work Plans, Budgets, Lessons Learned, and action plans.
  • Leads and facilitates cross-functional teams to achieve improvement objectives & overcome barriers to achieving project goals.
  • Assists in creating training requirements for the purpose of improving and controlling the emerging processes.
  • Implements course corrections as needed during process improvement implementations.
  • Integrates work with other departmental initiatives and revises as needed.
  • Helps maintain and manage the overall allocation and management of the operations resource pool and determines manpower needs.
  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.



Communication/Reporting:

  • Develops and manages Project Dashboards to evaluate a Project’s health and identify areas where a deep dive into certain projects may be necessary.
  • Develops tools for the team leaders to measure specific progress on projects and effectively communicate any gaps in the projects progress at the earliest stages possible.
  • Tracks progress against project goals and updates key stakeholders at REEDER on progress of project goals.
  • Participates in meetings with Leadership to review Project Schedules, Budgets, Constraint Logs, Resources, etc. on a regular cadence with the appropriate action items to be followed up on. This is in conjunction with holding regular check ins with the Project Teams to verify implementation and progress.
  • Seeks out continual education opportunities and shares knowledge base of opportunities with Sr. Leadership.
