The Project Engineer QA/QC provides management and administrative support to the Project Manager and Superintendent to facilitate the completion of the project within the constraints of the scope, schedule, and budget.

CONSTRUCTION PROJECT ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review shop drawings, product data, and other project submittals for general conformance with the plans and specifications. Process, coordinate, and distribute to applicable parties promptly. Maintain log and review status to expedite critical submittals.
  • Track schedule progress weekly and assist the project team with updating the schedule.
  • Communicate all RFI’s to Project Manager and process timely, maintain log and review status to expedite critical RFI’s, coordinate and distribute to affected parties, provide timely notice of cost/time impact resulting from RFI response.
  • Identify and provide timely notice of changed conditions, prepare change order requests with PM review and oversight, maintain change order request log, update as-built drawings.
  • Set up and maintain job site manual filing system and electronic filing system using Procore to supplement projects with regular progress photographs while maintaining accurate real-time information in Procore.
  • Generate punch list of incomplete/deficient work items in Procore. Distribute to applicable subcontractors and follow up for timely completion. Conduct inspections and manage project acceptance by architect and owner.
  • While working efficiently, ensure safety, ethics, and compliance, in accordance with OSHA, is maintained at all times. Notify the Superintendent of any infractions.
  • Assist Superintendent with any documentation, paperwork, infractions, etc.
  • Work with Superintendent to schedule, manage, participate, document project meetings, prepare and distribute meeting minutes, and communicate information among all project team members.
  • Track and evaluate the work performance of subcontractors and vendors. Interact with subcontractors and vendors regarding technical and contractual matters.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

QA/QC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare QC plans and conduct inspections per Company checklists.
  • Create, update, and maintain project quality control reports.
  • Manage QC system, daily reports (to include all QA/QC items), exposure hours, deficiency log, and safety logs.
  • Run QA/QC meetings, identifying missing details, defects, deficiencies.
  • Provide clarification on plans and provide details as needed.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications.
  • Chair and document weekly QC meetings with the Superintendent.
  • Assist Superintendent with subcontractor/supplier coordination, expedite material deliveries, identify special inspection requirements, verify all materials delivered and received are in conformance with the approved submittal and are handled and stored properly. Identify and record any problems related to delivered materials.
  • Coordinate and document the testing and commissioning of building systems.
  • Maintain the project “as-built” drawings daily.
  • Document “as-built” drawings, O&M, and warranty plans.
  • Assemble, review, and forward project closeout documents that include O&M manuals, “as-built,” and warranties.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and conduct field-testing, perform QA/QC inspections and adhere to the requirements of USACE quality assurance engineering regulations.
  • Ensure all work meets or exceeds the contract specifications and standards.
  • Review all special inspection and material testing performed by third parties.
