Job Title: Structural Engineer


Job Summary:

The role of a Structural Engineer is to work independently on smaller projects. The Structural Engineer will be able to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer certain engineered systems or products for a project. A Structural Engineer will perform various tasks, including Revit design, calculations, and field work.


Responsibilities

  1. May be responsible for the review and sealing of their projects or the work of others.
  2. Development of job-specific discipline specifications independently for less complex projects.
  3. Works with and coordinates with architectural, interior, and other engineering disciplines to coordinate the project.
  4. Perform field work independently.
  5. Perform calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
  6. Meet with clients and review projects as required.
  7. Must communicate design issues and solutions with the design team and clients.
  8. Must have an understanding of the design process and understand how buildings are constructed.
  9. Be able to develop project scope, budgets, and design approaches for smaller, less complex projects.
  10. Give guidance and mentor junior staff.
  11. Assist with the development of design standards.
  12. Assist PM’s and PIC’s with the development of proposals.
  13. This is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. There may be other duties as assigned.

Skills:

  1. Ability to hand sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively.
  2. Strong experience with modeling/drafting software (Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD).
  3. Experience with general business and industry software (Microsoft Office suite. Newforma tools, etc.).
  4. Ability to lead a project through all phases of structural document production.
  5. Ability to check own work for accuracy and completeness.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required
  2. A Professional Engineering license is required
  3. LEED accredited professional is preferred
  4. Minimum five years of experience
