Role Overview

Utilizing your extensive expertise in civil and structural engineering methodologies, you will undertake independent tasks that necessitate critical thinking in the assessment, selection, application, and modification of engineering practices, techniques, and standards. Furthermore, you will innovate solutions to challenges, and prepare or adjust drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, and graphs, while ensuring compliance with relevant codes and recognized engineering standards.

This position operates in a hybrid format.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with production and safety teams to devise structural design solutions, including the analysis of manufacturing tools and safety systems.
  • Conduct design assessments, calculations, models, and validations for manufacturing plant designs, lifting devices, carts, tables, and fixtures.
  • Prepare design evaluations, calculations, models, and validations for structural components related to HVAC systems and other manufactured products.
  • Create, oversee, and authorize structural drawings for fabrication.
  • Engage with external parties, including various regulatory bodies, to secure approvals for structural designs related to specific projects.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses of various designs, providing justification for structural component sizing and selection.
  • Exhibit flexibility in collaborating with engineering and production teams on diverse projects as directed.
  • Perform inspections on the manufacturing floor to verify adherence to structural designs.
  • Maintain plant certification standards.
  • Work in conjunction with other engineering disciplines as part of a collaborative design team.
  • Utilize various structural engineering software and propose enhancements for technological improvements.
  • Provide leadership within a multidisciplinary engineering team and manufacturing environment.
  • Possess knowledge of structural and safety regulations imposed by various organizations.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil and/or structural engineering.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license is mandatory.
  • Capability to create efficient and constructible designs as part of cost reduction strategies.
  • Positive interaction skills with external clients.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational capabilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Commitment to ongoing technical education and personal growth, both independently and with guidance.
  • Detail-oriented with a diligent work ethic.
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations with strict deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel within North America as required.
  • Occasional exposure to a shop environment, necessitating adherence to safety protocols and caution due to inherent hazards.

Desirable:

  • Experience in metal fabrication and a manufacturing-oriented work setting.
