Role Overview

Utilizing your extensive expertise in civil and structural engineering methodologies, you will take charge of planning and executing independent tasks that require critical judgment in the assessment, selection, application, and modification of engineering methods, protocols, and standards. You will also innovate solutions to challenges, and prepare or alter drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, and graphs, while ensuring adherence to relevant codes and recognized engineering practices.

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with production and safety teams to devise situational solutions pertaining to structural design, including the design and structural evaluation of manufacturing tools and safety systems.
  • Conduct design assessments, calculations, models, and validations for manufacturing plant configurations and approvals, including lifting devices, carts, tables, and fixtures.
  • Prepare design evaluations, calculations, models, and validations for structurally relevant components of HVAC systems, modular equipment, and other manufactured products.
  • Generate, oversee, and authorize structural drawings for fabrication purposes.
  • Collaborate with external parties, including various regulatory bodies, to secure approvals for the structural design of manufactured equipment as dictated by specific projects.
  • Conduct cost/benefit analyses of diverse designs and provide justification regarding structural component sizing and selection for product platforms.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in collaborating with engineering and production teams on various projects as required.
  • Perform inspections on the manufacturing floor to verify compliance with structural designs.
  • Maintain plant certification standards.
  • Work in conjunction with other engineering disciplines as part of a cohesive design team.
  • Utilize various structural engineering software and propose enhancements for technological progress.
  • Exhibit leadership within a multidisciplinary engineering team and manufacturing environment.
  • Possess knowledge of structural and safety regulations imposed by different associations.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil and/or structural engineering.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license is mandatory.
  • Capability to create efficient and constructible designs as part of cost reduction strategies.
  • Positive interaction skills with external clients.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational capabilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Commitment to ongoing technical education and personal growth, both independently and with guidance.
  • Detail-oriented with a diligent work ethic.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure in time-sensitive situations.
  • Willingness to travel across North America as necessary.
  • Experience in a shop environment, adhering to safety protocols and exercising caution due to inherent hazards.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with metal fabrication and a manufacturing-oriented work setting.
