The Finance and Grants Coordinator, reporting to the Executive Director, plays a critical role in managing financial and operational activities at Newark Arts. This role is crucial to the financial health and sustainability of our organization, focusing on efficient financial operations. 


Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2-4 years of related financial experience are required
  • Rigorous attention to detail and accuracy is essential; managing multiple priorities with poise and discretion is required
  • Strong computer literacy/proficiency required; an understanding and appreciation of nonprofit financial management, and the willingness to respond to the needs of the community, staff, and partners in a technologically-oriented society
  • Proficiency with Google suite of products, MS Office (especially Excel) is a must
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure, with a high level of attention to detail
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks with minimal supervision
  • Candidate must exercise good judgment and flexibility, with a community-wellness mindset
  • Positive, mission-oriented, forward-thinking attitude and sense of humor a must
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and tactfully with staff and those we serve
  • Excellent command of English (verbal and written)


Requirements

  • Oversee the financial operations of the organization in partnership with the Controller/CFO, including processing invoices, reconciling bank transactions, and organizational accounting. 
  • Produce financial reports and manage event budgets
  • Monitor the annual budget and collaborate with internal departments to support effective budgetary control. 
  • Oversee the organization's grant administration and fiscal sponsorship relationships which may include fiduciary oversight, financial management, and other administrative services. 
  • Contribute to audit preparation and implement financial process improvements.
  • Monitor all accounts, review financial reports, resolve financial issues, and prevent overdrafts
  • Assist with the hiring process, ensuring hiring documentation is complete and submitted to the HR hiring system
  • Assist with timesheet processing 
  • Perform other duties as assigned
