Summary:

The Senior Information Security Analyst assists with the planning, implementation, and maintenance of the District’s information security program including security administration, security operations, risk management, education, policy/procedure development, and other required duties. This individual will report to the Manager of Information Security, under direction from the Chief Information Security Officer.


Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:

Assists the Manager of Information Security with daily operation and long-range planning for the

Information Security Team.

• Assigns service tickets to Information Security Analysts, reviews ticket documentation for

accuracy, and counsels analysts on proper ticket preparation.

• Discusses with end-users who require secure information technology solutions, including

documentation of user requirements and coordination of Information Technology resources

toward solution implementation.

• Performs preliminary evaluation of Information Security Analyst job performance as a prelude to

staff performance evaluations.

• Monitors the work product of Information Security Analysts and ensures that work quality/quantity

is performed in accordance with prescribed departmental procedures and management

expectations.

• Assists in the planning and conduct of information security risk management programs and

remediation of issues.

• Participates in activities that foster information security awareness among the District workforce

Assists in the creation, maintenance, and enforcement of information security policies and

procedures.


Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university; and

• A minimum three (3) years’ work experience as a privacy-security compliance specialist,

information security specialist, or information technology auditor;

• OR

• A minimum seven (7) years’ work experience as a privacy-security compliance specialist,

information security specialist, or information technology auditor


Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Information Security, or related field(s) of study

from an accredited college or university; and

• A minimum two (2) years’ work experience as a privacy-security compliance specialist,

information security specialist, or information technology auditor in a healthcare environment, with

a minimum one (1) year in a senior or team lead role.

• One (or more) of the following certifications:

• Supported by the Information Systems Security Consortium (ISC²):

• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP);

• Systems Security Certified Professional (SSCP);

• Healthcare Information Security and Privacy Practitioner (HCISPP); or

• Certified Authorization Professional (CAP).

• Supported by the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA):

• Certified Information System sAuditor (CISA);

• Certified Information Security Manager (CISM);

• Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT); or

• Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC).


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, and

PowerPoint).

• Data networking, server architecture, data storage, and database administration

fundamentals.

• Computer hardware including (but not limited to) routers, switches, servers, and

desktop workstations.

• Mobile device technologies including (but not limited to) laptops, mobile phones,

and tablets.

• Layered security solutions including (but not limited to) firewalls, email/web content

filtration, data loss prevention, endpoint protection, and mobile device management.

• Working knowledge of federal and state data security legislation including (but not limited to) HIPAA, HITECH, and data breach notification laws

• Working knowledge of third-party information security standards including (but not limited to) ISO 27001 and 27002, NIST, and PCI-DSS.

• Skill in the use of vulnerability management tools (scanners and managed security platforms) for

identification of actual (or potential) network, server, Internet, and application vulnerabilities.

• SIEM or other log correlation tools for security event log analysis.

• Drafting investigative reports that sufficiently document issues, risks, and recommended

corrective actions.

• Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with management, peers, and

staff.

• Research and understand current information security news, trends, regulations, and

technologies.

• Summarize and communicate technical data to a nontechnical audience, both verbally

and in writing.

• Work independently or within a group.

• Organize work, set priorities, and meet deadlines.

• Supervise the work of others.

• Conduct inquiries and ask supplemental questions based on circumstances.
