Description:


Coordinate endurance vehicle testing for the Passenger Car, VAN and AMG durability test fleets in the United States. The main focus is to create high quality test results, with high efficiency, and in the shortest possible time. Key targets of the durability testing is validation of the powertrain and drivetrain systems, including software validation, hardware validation, OBD diagnostics, and emissions testing.


•Manage mileage accumulation (driving profile, locations, required maintenance etc.) of 15-20 vehicles of the durability testing programs. Lead service supplier business development working with External Providers to maximize work quality, perform capacity planning and associated staffing, and cost minimization. Responsible to monitor and control work output and associated driver testing for all service providers.


•Monitor technical status of vehicles. Identify faults based on driver reports and diagnostic tools. Evaluate faults and lead problem solving activities, including 1st level technical analysis and detailed analysis for overall vehicle issues. Act as a technical lead for other team members for expedient resolution of fleet durability issues.


•Report vehicle status, both technical and administrative, in all necessary and required forms and databases. Document technical durability status within the FINAS database. Maintain internal Key Process Indicators for local and Management to monitor the current status and help forecast necessary future changes for the Durability testing planning.


•Propose and manage root cause identification and vehicle repair processes promptly to enable continuation of vehicle testing and validation of the solution effectiveness. Control complete process from part logistics to effectiveness checks, including workshop orders in PIT.


•Leadership responsibilities for weekly and monthly meetings and reports with German Customers, internal cross-divisional status meetings, and weekly internal department meetings related to Durability testing topics.


•Control detailed invoices from external Durability Service Provider and internal partners (e.g. emission lab). Control and overall program budget and report USD/km. Approve monthly billing per program. Act as a lead for budget forecasting and capacity planning for the durability team.


•Active participation in continuous process improvements for internal and external processes. Enable service suppliers to prepare for future requirements and lead preparations. Act as the lead for ISO process documentation, corrective action reports, process improvements, and audit participation.


Minimum skills required:

• Automotive Knowledge: Knowledge of current automobile technology, vehicle electrical and onboard diagnostics and communication architectures, assembly structure, modules and parts. General knowledge of vehicle functions.

• Project Management Skills: Ability to control projects from conceptualization to implementation. Clear understanding of controlling key performance indicators and effective reporting. Strong skills in financial controlling of projects.

• Interpersonal and Team skills: Experience in intercultural environment, with German language skills favored. Experience to work in a complex organization structure.

• Analytic or systems engineering Knowledge: ability to identify issues, analyze and evaluate problems, develop solutions and scenarios, evaluate alternative solutions based on established criteria and decision making.

• Organization and leadership skills: Ability to organize workflows within the TechCenter and with all external partners, especially with the durability service suppliers.

• Analytic or systems engineering knowledge: Experience, or willingness to learn, the troubleshooting of data-logger equipment and database systems in order to identify logger issues and to analyze and determine failure root causes and find solutions.


•Automotive Knowledge: Detailed knowledge of automobile technology, vehicle architecture, assembly structure, modules and parts. Comprehensive knowledge of vehicle functions.

•Diagnostic Knowledge: Knowledge of common diagnostic tools (tele diagnosis, INCA, Videamo/Ecoute, Diagmera, Monaco) and ability to interpret diagnostic data. Experience with CAN bus systems and ECU design.

•Project Management Skills: Ability to control projects from conceptualization to implementation. Clear understanding of controlling key performance indicators and effective reporting. Strong skills in financial controlling of projects.

•Interpersonal and Team skills: Experience in intercultural environment, with German language skills preferred. Experience to work in a complex organization structure.

•Analytic or systems engineering Knowledge: comprehensive skills to identify issues, analyze and evaluate problems, develop solutions and scenarios, evaluate alternative solutions based on established criteria and (lead) decision making.

•Organization and leadership skills: Ability to organize workflows within the TechCenter and with all external partners, especially with the durability service suppliers.



Top Must Have's:

1. Excellent communication in general – oral, meetings, emails, phone calls

2. General automotive knowledge. Must understand or have automotive knowledge.

3. Must be interested in tasks of this position in particular – Heavy Engineering program management and comfortable with hands-on work



Minimum of 4-year degree in mechanical eng or technical degree

Best case 3-7 years of exp – less than would be considered if a candidate has specific exp at another automotive company in this position


-Someone who has exp with the validation of vehicle development would be helpful.
