Collaborate with peers across sites to establish automation standards aligned with global best practices and contribute to defining automation modernization strategies tailored to the Pasadena site.


Responsibilities:

  • Organize and prioritize a portfolio of automation improvement opportunities in collaboration with various stakeholders, including managers, engineers, supervisors, and plant operators.
  • Work closely with the local controls team to deliver daily support to operations, maintenance, and instrumentation teams, troubleshooting and enhancing site automation systems to meet safety and production targets.
  • Define automation requirements for capital projects and collaborate with project teams to successfully integrate automation solutions.
  • Provide on-call support for plant operations on a rotational basis outside regular hours.
  • Collaborate with process control engineers from all manufacturing sites to establish and maintain a set of industry-leading standards and conventions for plant automation and process control.
  • Maintain site automation hardware and process control networks, ensuring safe and secure operations through lifecycle planning for the site’s automation infrastructure.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize plant operations through improved automation, leveraging lean manufacturing principles.


Qualifications: Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, mathematics, or natural science.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience implementing process control solutions in chemical manufacturing facilities.
  • Proven experience supporting daily activities and implementing small capital projects.
  • Proficiency in configuring and maintaining automation systems on DCS, PLC, and HMI platforms.
  • Familiarity with data historians and database management.
  • Working knowledge of automation standards for process safety, alarm management, batch management, and industrial control system cybersecurity.
  • Familiarity with server operating systems and network protocols to support process control networks.
  • Self-motivated with keen attention to detail and highly organized.
  • Strong team player with a track record of motivating team members to achieve success.
  • Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience implementing process control solutions in chemical manufacturing.
  • Experience working on large capital projects.
  • Good understanding of batch applications and standards (ISA 88).
  • Experience modernizing legacy automation systems in operating production facilities.
  • Familiarity with D/3 and Rockwell PlantPAx platforms.
