Position Summary:

Our team of dedicated professionals is seeking a Member Services Specialist. This full-time, non-exempt role offers flexibility with remote, in-person, or hybrid work options. As an essential part of our team, this role is crucial in enhancing the value of SAMPE membership and supporting our mission. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Director of Marketing and Membership Services to represent our staff in committee meetings and events and oversee membership retention, renewal, customer service, and database management.


Primary Responsibilities:

CUSTOMER SERVICE:

  • Support the membership department's daily operations, including member outreach, onboarding, retention efforts, and membership campaign execution.
  • Lead membership renewals and outreach efforts.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to current and potential members.
  • Respond to telephone and email inquiries from members and staff.
  • Assist with online store purchases as needed
  • Serve as a point of contact for SAMPE’s volunteer chapter leadership and members, providing exceptional customer service.
  • Work with staff and volunteers to grow student and professional chapters and activities.
  • Collaborate with marketing to develop and deliver regular member communications.
  • Participates in continued member engagement, specifically regarding member education, communication, and experience.


ADMINISTRATION:

  • Maintain the society’s AMS database, including creating and updating member and subscriber records, updating contact information, generating invoices/receipts, and processing memberships.
  • Manage and run database membership renewals and updates.
  • Analyze membership statistics and make recommendations to leadership based on data trends.
  • Work closely with AMS service provider to ensure database integrity and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with marketing to promote membership benefits and events.
  • Assists with the maintenance of various types of content on the SAMPE website and other sources to ensure consistency and accuracy of membership benefits and services
  • Maintain and update the society’s contact lists, incorporating data from email communications.
  • Support the development and implementation of new member services and programs.
  • Assist with creating and distributing membership communications, including newsletters and promotional materials.


CHAPTER/COMMITTEE/STUDENT PROGRAMS SUPPORT

  • Help codify membership best practices and documentation processes, supporting SAMPE professional and student chapters with practical processes and quarterly best practices meetings.
  • Assist volunteer committees in achieving their objectives, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and taking minutes.
  • Manage and distribute relevant documentation, reports, and updates to chapters and committees.
  • Coordinate the onboarding and training of new chapter and committee leaders.
  • Monitors and reports on the progress and performance of chapter and committee activities.
  • Support developing and implementing strategies to enhance chapter and committee engagement and growth.
  • Coordinate with academic institutions, student chapters, and young professionals to facilitate involvement in SAMPE activities.
  • Support student and young professional programs at SAMPE events, including the Bridge Competitions, Young Emerging Leaders Awards, and the University Research Symposium.


MISC.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Travel to SAMPE events as required (10-15% travel).


Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience in a member-based organization is highly desirable.
  • Advanced database administration experience.
  • Self-starter with the ability to act independently.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365, particularly Excel (including pivot tables), and AMS/CRM platforms; Power BI is a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Positive, can-do attitude.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Flexible and collaborative, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Diplomatic and able to interact well with committee members, staff, leadership, and SAMPE customers.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
