Recovering Oklahomans After Disaster, Inc. (ROAD)


General Description:

The Project Manager is responsible for accepted construction projects.  Ensures that construction projects are on budget and on time in accordance with all applicable codes.  Supervises workmanship of volunteer/vocational labor and quality of materials and coordinates all construction activities for assigned projects.  Responsible for repair and rebuilding disaster survivor’s homes to a safe, sanitary, secure, and functional environment in accordance with their Disaster Recovery Plan.


Tasks:

  • Ensures all materials and equipment necessary to complete home repair and reconstruction projects are coordinated and delivered to the job site
  • Verifies quality and standards for all workmanship to ensure safety, quality, efficiency, and high morale of volunteers
  • Trains volunteers, AmeriCorps members, vocational trainees, and others assigned to job site on necessary skills, safety equipment and practices, tools, and construction techniques to perform work to restore survivors’ homes to safe, sanitary, secure, and functional environment
  • Coordinates volunteers/vocational labor, (contractors as needed for trades work), and inspectors in order to complete assigned projects in a timely manner
  • Maintains accurate records of construction progress, financial accounts, home owner documentation, contractors, and other pertinent information for assigned projects
  • Ensures the completion of all essential documentation and reporting during construction including permits and home repair agreements before initiating work
  • Manages funds, tools, and equipment; may transport ROAD trailers and equipment to job sites
  • May supervise volunteer/vocational laborers on job sites, teach construction skills and techniques to volunteers/vocational laborers and disaster survivors, and work closely with partners from the faith and secular community
  • Interacts with disaster survivors, case managers, subcontractors, and volunteers/vocational laborers to complete all necessary disaster related work on homes in accordance with and direction of the homeowners Recovery Plan
  • Coordinate and evaluate the work of subcontractors working on survivors’ homes.  Identify deficiencies and ensure correction prior to completing work
  • Communicates frequently with ROAD staff and external stakeholders; respond to requests for information through text and phone calls within one business day


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in general construction, or like experience
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC
  • Working knowledge of local residential building codes
  • Basic computer skills
  • Experience supervising construction projects
  • Problem solving experience and strong spatial reasoning skills
  • Experience estimating entire construction projects
  • Good oral and written communication skills

Requirements:

  • Must have your own truck:
  • can bumper pull dual axle cargo trailer of tools (up to 16’) and flatbed for materials (up to 20’)
  • equipped with trailer brakes
  • Must have your own general liability insurance (limits apply)
  • ROAD must be listed as “additionally insured”.
  • Must have business/commercial auto policy (limits apply)
  • Willingness to travel statewide


Hours and Compensation:

  • Work scheduled Monday through Friday with occasional weekends (project dependent)
  • Paid as a 1099 Contractor (per invoice)
