About the role:

With a strong commitment to promotion of health and safety of all Forensic Services Department employees, the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Support Officer provides managers and employees with knowledge, guidance, analysis and expertise, in support of the Forensic Services Department and force policies in relation to Health and Safety.

As the successful applicant , some of your duties will include:

Assist managers with activities of the Department's health, safety and wellbeing functions in order to meet compliance with Departmental procedures, Victoria Police policy and relevant OHS legislation. Assist in the development, implementation, monitoring and review of strategies, special projects, policy and procedures, guidance material and training documentation to support achievement of organisational goals to eliminate or minimise risks and ensure legislative compliance. Provide support and guidance to internal and external stakeholders in the development of strategic health, safety and wellbeing planning through data trend analysis, audit findings and hazard inspections. Confidently represent and provide high quality advice and assistance to all internal and external stakeholders on ways to improve health, safety and wellbeing performance. Coordinate the development and delivery of in-house training, as well as facilitate and coordinate training provided by key external stakeholders to all levels of staff on matters related to health, safety and wellbeing. Establish and maintain effective communication processes, build positive, functional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Maintain and ensure accurate recording of statistical data information and prepare statistical reports for management to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards and organisational policies and procedures. Act as Secretariat for the FSD HSW Committee and associated sub-committees.

Skills & experience:

Demonstrated experience performing a health, safety and wellbeing role in a dynamic environment. A relevant OH&S qualification or equivalent experience Good communication skills with the proven ability to establish productive working relationships Highly developed administrative skills and proven competence in standard office software applications Experience in meeting management, specifically pre- and post-meeting activities and minute taking Ability to learn quickly and multi-task to achieve set objectives within defined timeframes

Requirements and relevant information:

Position is located at 31 Forensic drive Macleod, Victoria 1x VPS-4 ongoing full-time role available. Commencing salary will be at the base level of the VPS-4 Salary Range. The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening. The successful candidate will be required to provide a DNA sample (buccal swab) for use in laboratory quality control procedures (elimination purposes only) Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
