Job Summary:
The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Safety, Wellbeing and Compliance branch, you will play a critical role in driving cultural change and improving safety performance outcomes across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-level safety advice and support to executive and senior leaders to drive cultural change and improve safety performance outcomes.
- Influence strategy development and champion the health and safety agenda to manage safety risks in a complex environment.
- Mentor, develop, and build upon staff safety capabilities and competencies.
- Supervise and guide the day-to-day activities of the safety coordinator to ensure quality deliverables are being met.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge, understanding, and experience in the application of OHS legislation, compliance codes, codes of practice, and regulations.
- Relevant significant industry experience in occupational health and safety management systems.
- Demonstrated experience in the identification of OHS risks and developing, implementing, and evaluating preventative strategies.
- Demonstrated expertise in consulting with senior leaders and managers in the delivery of key outcomes in health and safety, change management, and related workplace improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering cultural change in health, safety, and wellbeing.
Qualifications:
- Suitably qualified person with a minimum of diploma in occupational/workplace health and safety.
- Demonstrated extensive experience is desirable.
- A full and current driver's license is required due to the need to work across different locations.
