Summary
The Government Information Specialist (GIS) Office of Administration Office of Mission Support (OMS) Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The Government Information Specialist position will serve under the Supervisory Privacy Officer and hold the responsibility for administering all phases of the Privacy Compliance program process.
Duties
Develops and oversees implementation of internal compliance policies within his/her assigned respective business line to reflect program policy and associated updates. Develops goals and objectives and prioritizes tasks in response to Privacy requests. Review and analyze privacy compliance requests to ensure privacy language and VA privacy policies are incorporated in all privacy documents to protect veteran personally identifiable information. Create, review, coordinate, and deliver Professional Development training to all VBA Privacy officers. Review and analyze privacy compliance documentation to ensure all applicable privacy laws and privacy language to ensure protection of veterans Personally Identifiable Information (PII). Assist in the development, review and maintenance of privacy policies, procedures, and guidance essential to the effective and efficient implementation of Privacy work and the Privacy program. Working knowledge of Privacy, related laws, regulations, policies, and procedures to include Privacy Act of 1974, E- Government Act, NIST 800- 53. The incumbent participates in meetings, working groups and lead special projects, in a wide range of program process initiatives concerning internal procedures for the Privacy Office.Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. The grade progression for this position is GS-13.
Work Schedule : Full time, Monday through Friday, 8 am - 4 pm
Compressed/Flexible: At discretion of Agency.
Telework : Yes; At discretion of Agency.
Virtual: Yes this is a Virtual position - Employee is expected to report to the nearest VBA Facility based on Telework Agreement.
