Job Description Summary

The Global On Wing Support Training Leader will standardize OWS Training strategy and execution across the global network of 7 shops, plus the associated supporting Global/HQ functions, ultimately responsible for maintaining and leading a global training plan aligned with current and future state needs, covering all roles and functions within the OWS organization.

This person will follow individual leader standard work, and must also meet day-to-day short-term objectives. Candidates must have an ability to resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning, and also be able to project-plan long term initiatives. Positive working relationships with technicians, support staff, customers and suppliers are critical to the success of this role.

GE On Wing Support is a 24 / 7 / 365 operation with sites in multiple global time zones. Although every effort is made to respect local time zones of all team members, leaders in Global roles are expected to be willing and flexible within reason to accommodate and support all global sites.

Job Description

In addition, the Training Leader will:
  • Maintain a strategic training plan covering the full range of OWS role needs (direct and indirect), developing OWS skillset by considering long-term demand signals, strategic capacity planning, and capability/scope changes.
  • Develop an OWS training syllabus and content to cover identified needs, working with appropriate subject matter experts to ensure current/relevant content is available via online or in-person media as appropriate, to meet the following requirements as it applies to each role:
    • Company initial/onboarding and recurring training
    • Regulatory requirements and applicable mandatory continuation training
    • Product familiarisation & theory
    • Practical skills
    • On Job Training
    • Train-the-trainer
    • Support function specific process training
    • Leadership development and soft skills training
    • SAP/OASIS training
    • FLIGHT DECK training
  • Work with OWS Site Leads, Function Leads, Site Trainers and other SMEs/Stakeholders from across the business to plan and execute on the global training plan, including development of appropriate KPIs.
  • Implement FLIGHT DECK Organisation and Individual fundamentals through the full scope of training activity.
  • Work with OWS Quality Organisation and Site Leads towards achieving standard Training and Competency Assessment requirements within each Part 145 Organisation's Quality System, to position for greater cross-site flexibility in future.
  • Build and manage an early-career pipeline 3-4yr vocational training program (i.e. Apprenticeship) partnering with appropriate local education/aerospace training institutions as appropriate in locations where this pathway is feasible.
  • Partner with formal development program leaders (OMLP, MOLP, JOLP etc.) to attract program candidates to applicable OWS roles, assist development while in role, and to maintain future candidate pipeline for permanent roles.
  • Partner with Site Leaders, Strategy Leader and Global Facilities on future site strategy to ensure appropriate training facility requirements are included in OWS facilities.
  • Partner with Strategy Leader and other stakeholders as required to ensure required resources and/or funding are available to support Training needs.
  • Work with Site Leads and HR/Talent Acquisition to align hiring process with future skillset needs.
  • Maintain an active interest in technology developments within the field of technical training, evaluate potential use-cases for technological improvements and make recommendations where appropriate.


Minimum Requirements :
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university and 5+ years of advanced experience in all relevant areas of Training applicable within an aircraft engine maintenance environment (or a minimum high school diploma / GED with an additional 4+ years of advanced experience in all relevant areas of Training applicable within an aircraft engine maintenance environment).
