Job Description:
Performs complex (journey-level) consultative services and technical assistance work in the HIV/STD/HCV Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit. Work involves planning, developing, implementing, coordinating and evaluating Hepatitis C (HCV) reporting information and procedures for entry into public health data collection systems. Provides consultative services and technical assistance regarding data collection standards to local and regional health departments. May train others. Work is performed under the direction of the Epidemiologist III team lead and the general supervision of the Focused Surveillance Group Manager with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Essential Job Functions:
(45%): Manages investigational data by entering HCV reporting information into a data system; tracks reports and database maintenance; and performs quality assurance by evaluating reporting forms for consistency and completeness. Provides technical support and feedback to local and regional health departments on data collection standards. Fax laboratory reports to designated local and regional health departments.

(25%): Serve as a subject matter expert in developing and testing modules for HCV surveillance in an integrated disease registry system. Collaborates with Epidemiologist III team lead for HCV and with Emerging and Infectious Disease Unit (EAIDU) staff to ensure follow up of Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B in concurrence with HCV.

(20%): Prepares goals and objectives for the data collection activities, and monitors procedures for efficiency. Develops standards for achieving strategic operational goals, and ensures they are in line with CDC grant metrics. Assists in formulating definitions, standards, and policies for the effective and efficient functioning of HCV surveillance and the enforcement of security and confidentiality rules and policies.

(10%): Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor (marginal functions). Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to: actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.
