Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Accountant III - Accounts Receivable Reconciliation Specialist to join our team at the Texas Health & Human Services Commission. As a key member of our Accounts Receivable Team, you will be responsible for processing and reconciling financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with agency policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Transaction Processing: Validate and process funds moves, returned items, withdrawals, and other assigned tasks through the Accounts Receivable Tracking System (ARTS).
  • Research and Analysis: Research and prepare paperwork for Attorney General (AG), Treasury Offset Program (TOP), and SNAP payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Reconciliation and Investigation: Provide in-depth research and investigation into funds that are in suspense accounts to allocate using all available resources.
  • Backup and Support: Backup to the Detail Processing Team as determined by management to meet business needs.
  • Communication and Customer Service: Contact stakeholders by email and/or phone to verify correct allocation and refund information, ensuring excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Financial Document Management: Ensure the safekeeping of negotiable instruments, cash payments, and financial documents received by HHSC Accounts Receivable.
  • Training and Development: Cross-train in other areas of the Accounts Receivable Department to aid as a backup as needed and assigned by management.
  • Special Assignments: Work on special assignments as determined by management to accommodate business needs and deadlines.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: At least four years of experience in reconciliation, accounting, finance, cash-handling, or related fields, and at least four years of experience using MS Office Suite products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Skills and Abilities: Excellent written communication skills, ability to interpret and apply accounting data, work accurately with numerical detail, and work within established deadlines.
  • Registration or Licensure Requirements: None.
Working Conditions

This is an in-office job, Monday through Friday, with no teleworking option.
