Duties

Serving as a Law Enforcement Specialist (Instructor Development) GS-1801-13 makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) team and mission. This position is located in the Instructor Development and Curriculum Research Branch (IDR), Accreditation and Instructional Systems (AID), Training Management Operations (TMO) Directorate, under the Office of the Associate Training Ops (TOPS) located in Glynco, GA.

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Senior Law Enforcement Instructor directly supporting training program coordination, delivery, maintenance, and accreditation.

Typical duties include: Provides oversight for the development and implementation of a variety of in-residence and online law enforcement instructor training relevant to law enforcement topical areas including but not limited to tactics; patrol; investigations; human behavior; interviewing; communication skills; legal topics; firearms safety; etc. Maintaining accredited training programs and the supporting lesson plans to instruct, coordinate and deliver in-residence and online training in law enforcement instructor methods, techniques, skills and competencies preparing FLETC and PO instructional staff to deliver classroom and scenario based training in law enforcement subjects and skillsets including but not limited to Behavioral Science, Counterterrorism, Cyber Crimes, Driver Training, Maritime Training, Enforcement Operations, Firearms, Investigative Operations, Legal, and Physical Techniques. Leading the development and implementation of long and short-range training plans and formulates appropriate operating plans and program procedures to ensure the development and implementation of quality in-residence and online law enforcement
education/training in accordance with established FLETC requirements and protocols. Using life experiences from law enforcement to enhance development and implementation of in-residence and online training programs and to respond to student questions generated during the delivery of any live instruction conducted. Serving as a leader for lower grade training instructor positions and performs a full range of coaching, facilitating, mentoring, planning, and coordinating functions.
