Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Public Safety Specialist to join our team at ApacheJunction. As a Police Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining public safety and order in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol designated areas to detect and deter crime, conduct business checks, and enforce traffic laws and regulations.
  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, administer first aid, and conduct area evacuations as needed.
  • Prepare detailed incident reports, fill out forms, and complete records.
  • Coordinate activities with other officers, detectives, and supervisors to make arrests and implement strategies.
  • Secure crime scenes, conduct searches, and gather evidence.
  • Conduct investigations, gather evidence, and prepare cases for prosecution.
  • Testify as a witness in civil and criminal hearings, serve court orders, and perform other duties as required.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED, and served as a Police Recruit or graduated from an AZPOST Academy program.
  • One year of full-time paid permanent experience as a police officer, deputy sheriff, or equivalent in the last three years.
  • Completed agency probation period and acquired AZPOST certification within three months of appointment.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Federal and State statutes, Law Enforcement Code of Ethics, public safety, Department policies, and procedures.
  • Current communication technology, including GIS, CAD, and wireless services.
  • Law enforcement methods, practices, and procedures, including case laws governing arrest, rules of evidence, and investigative and interrogative procedures.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

Work requires walking, running, climbing, sitting, and driving. Required to perform a full range of motion with lifting and/or carrying items weighing up to 100 pounds and exerting force between 20 and 50 pounds. Possible exposure to potentially hazardous, uncontrollable, and life-threatening situations.
