Overview

The Armed Security Specialist (ASS) fulfills the necessary local, state, and federal criteria to execute responsibilities as an armed security personnel. The core responsibilities of the ASS may encompass, but are not limited to: immediate response to emergencies; enforcing federal regulations and related state laws; performing mobile surveillance, inspections, and searches; executing traffic enforcement and investigations; initiating detainment and transporting individuals; conducting protective services such as safeguarding corporate-owned or leased properties; securing equipment and materials; managing access to facilities by employees, visitors, and residents; and other tasks as assigned. The ASS is equipped with a sidearm, shotgun, or other weapons as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

Adhere to all organizational personnel and safety protocols, executing all assigned tasks in a secure manner. Arrive at the workplace in the appropriate uniform and carry necessary, issued equipment. Be prepared to exercise force, including lethal force if required. Participate in Guard Mount, receive designated posts, and note any additional instructions. Execute general and specific orders for the assigned post. Communicate via radio, telephone, and verbally as per directives. Engage and escort public and governmental personnel as necessary. Provide access control, traffic management, and conduct both foot and vehicle-based armed security operations. Maintain the cleanliness of the uniform and assigned equipment. Follow relevant standard operating procedures and regulations concerning the security of weapons, facilities, personnel, and property. Conduct personnel, vehicle, building, and facility inspections, as well as package and parcel evaluations. Must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays if required. Additional duties as assigned. Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED is mandatory. Candidates must be at least 21 years old. Candidates should meet one of the following recommended qualifications: Two years of service in the United States Armed Forces (including Reserve or National Guard), or A combination of two years of experience in physical security (as an armed or unarmed security officer) and service in the United States Armed Forces (including Reserves or National Guard), or An Associate's Degree in a Security or Law Enforcement-related discipline, or Successful completion of a police officer's basic training academy. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license. Must meet or exceed the Minimum Medical and Physical Standards for Armed Security Personnel as outlined in relevant best practices. Physical fitness requirements include the ability to exhibit full range of motion, kneel and rise easily, lift a minimum of 40 pounds from floor to waist, bench press at least 40 percent of body weight, and perform sit-ups and push-ups continuously for at least 30 seconds each, along with completing a timed .5 mile course based on age and gender. Must satisfactorily qualify with a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol, M4 semi-automatic rifle, and shotgun qualification course as administered by relevant training centers on a quarterly basis. Completion and successful passing of active shooter threat training programs are required. Must pass initial and random drug testing. Must pass initial psychological evaluations. In compliance with federal regulations, all hires will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the necessary employment eligibility verification documentation upon hire, including a background check for any disqualifying criminal history.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Proficient in operating personal computers and standard office equipment. Must demonstrate proficiency in various software applications including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and email platforms. Exhibits tact in interactions; remains composed under pressure; treats others with respect and consideration; accepts responsibility for actions; and follows through on commitments.
