Job Summary

We are seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Youth Initiative Specialist. Youth Initiative Specialist plans, develops, and oversees teen activities, including the Youth Advisory Council (YAC), the Battle of the Bands, and other teen programs. Specialists will oversee volunteers and budget, analyzing program effectiveness. A successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter and independent worker with leadership capabilities and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities will include:
Develop and promote programs for teens.
- Coordinate special events and logistics, including event promotion.
Manage and plan for the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) meetings and activities.
- Establishes and administers a marketing plan aimed at promoting programs; crafts flyers, press releases, direct mail, newsletters, advertisements, and web content; and makes certain that staff members are kept informed about the programs.
Develop program evaluation standards, methods, and tools; incorporate evaluation data into future program planning.
Operates a passenger vehicle as necessary.
Other essential job duties relevant to the role and department may be required.

*Successful candidates must be willing to work a very flexible work schedule including nights and weekends* 

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of one year of relevant work experience is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience . Candidates with some experience in a lead or supervisory capacity are preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of recreation programs and events.
Experience with RecTrac of at least six months.
Proficiency in basic research and survey techniques.
Experience working with middle school and high school teens for a year (1). 

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Criminal background, credit, and DMV checks required. 

A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are necessary (driving records may undergo annual review for ongoing eligibility). Fingerprinting, TB test within 30 days of hire. Successfully pass the Child Protective Services (CPS) evaluation. First Aid/CPR certifications must be obtained either at the time of hire or within four (4) months.
