POSITION OVERVIEW

The Retail Associate is primarily tasked with executing checkout operations, providing assistance to patrons, and aiding in the organization, pricing, and presentation of merchandise within the store to enhance its appeal to the public. This role reports directly to the Store Manager and is eligible for overtime compensation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The following responsibilities are illustrative of the diverse range of tasks performed in this role. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
  • Handles cash registers with professionalism and accuracy.
  • Provides prompt and courteous assistance to customers.
  • Maintains cleanliness and orderliness within the store.
  • Sorts, cleans, and prices items for sale.
  • Displays products in an attractive and marketable manner.
  • Acts as a representative of the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches, fostering positive relationships with donors, customers, and the community while delivering exceptional service.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

A high school diploma or GED is required for this position.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

To excel in this role, an individual must effectively manage each responsibility outlined. The following skills and abilities are essential:

1. Proficient in reading and interpreting documents such as safety guidelines, operational instructions, and procedural manuals; capable of writing routine reports and correspondence; able to communicate effectively with individuals and small groups.

2. Competent in basic arithmetic operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; able to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.

3. Capable of applying common sense to follow instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form; able to address problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized scenarios.

4. Familiar with cash register operations and general office equipment.

5. Able to engage with customers and/or donors in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.

6. Knowledgeable about retail operations, including sales, customer service, inventory management, and pricing strategies.

7. Demonstrates the ability to produce a high volume and quality of work.

8. Skilled in planning and organizing tasks to meet deadlines.

Employment Type: Full Time

Compensation: $14.00 per hour
