Key Responsibilities

The Cardiovascular Technologist, under the supervision of the department head or lead technician, is tasked with overseeing procedures, including all diagnostic and interventional coronary and peripheral catheterization examinations. The technologist guarantees safe patient care and acts as a scrub assistant during procedures.


Required Qualifications

Educational Background:

  • Associate's degree in Cardiovascular Technology, Radiologic Technology, or Respiratory Therapy.
  • If educational qualifications are not met, a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience is required, along with:
    • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) Certification (to be obtained within 12 months of employment) OR
    • Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) Certification (to be obtained within 12 months of employment).

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

  • Florida Certified Radiologic Technologist license with valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification (preferred) OR
  • Florida Registered Respiratory Therapist license with valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification (preferred).
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) Certification or Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) Certification (to be obtained within 12 months of employment if no degree in the applicable fields).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
