The Budget Office role within the Portfolio Budget and Finance branch is a key role in providing support on a broad range of budget and financial management activities across the portfolio. The role provides an opportunity to get involved in government activities around actuals reporting, budget updates, financial management compliance, and engagement with the stakeholders.

With a degree in accounting, finance or commerce (desirable), the role requires some analytical skills, a focus on detail and ability to build effective relationships. It is a dynamic work environment and will provide the right candidate the opportunity to develop and make a difference. Being highly motivated, enthusiastic and proactive will see you succeed in this role.

The successful candidate will be someone who can demonstrate initiative and self-motivation while being flexible, adaptive and innovative as tasks can change day-to-day. The role requires accounting knowledge, will build on familiarising with government financial frameworks/compliance, ability to research and build on effective stakeholder engagement skills.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

Expertise in best practice budgeting within government and knowledge of the Financial Management Act is preferred

This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
