 About this Position

The Destination MT team works to sustain and grow Montana’s economy. The programs develop and use communications, advertising, development and promotional campaigns to showcase Montana and create awareness about the state as a place to visit and do business. Through data-driven strategies and grant programs, the team aims to preserve and promote the genuine character of Montana and partners to achieve a sustainable economic future for all.

This position leads the administration of the Regional Assistance Program grants and the Tourism Development and Enhancement Revolving Loan Fund Grant Program. These programs focus on building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and tourism partners and developing or enhancing tourism opportunities across the state – with a focus on rural and under visited areas.

Project oversight and compliance - Leads in developing & reviewing individual grant agreements for each new grant recipient, incorporating approved project plans, budgets, and deliverables; In charge of monthly Statewide Accounting, Budgeting, Human Resources System (SABHRS) reports regarding project expenditures;Maintains up-to-date computer files for tracking expenditure rates and audit status. Grant development - Researches and interprets applicable state requirements, establishes, and modifies project management policies and procedures, and prepares reporting and financial management formats; Evaluates grant applications to ensure applications are complete and comply with program, state and federal requirements. Ensures applicant eligibility, assesses project feasibility, attains additional information from applicants as necessary, researches and assists with technical issues; Leads grant competitive processes planning and execution. Recommends major changes to Division Administrator. Outreach and relationship building - Leads outreach activities on program including attending industry meetings and meeting with potential applicants and industry stakeholders; solicits, analyzes and recommends priorities to the Division Administrator to integrate those priorities into the application process; leads in creating news releases and ensuring that the website is updated; Develops and publicizes grant application guidelines, application materials, handbooks, website(s) or other publications. Provides online grant management technical assistance - Leads development and maintenance of online grant application processes and procedures for Regional Assistance Program and the revolving loan grant program. Provides technical support to applicants and Division staff arising from the online application software system. Maintains and operates databases and grant management software and ensures accurate reporting to the Legislature, stakeholders and interested parties.

What are we looking for?

Education and Experience: 

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, finance, or other related field Three years of combined job-related work experience in communicating, facilitating, organizing, or managing public grants as well as project management experience Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis. It would pique our interest if you had experience in rural community development projects and related grants as well as experience in the tourism industry.
