The Department of Anesthesiology seeks an Assistant Administrator to provide administrative oversight, coordination, and special project management of the executive leadership team. The incumbent will aid in ensuring efficient business operations, defining and implementing strategic plans, and overseeing compliance with internal controls and policies to facilitate the planning, development, and implementation of Department, School of Medicine and University Physicians Group programs and initiatives. This individual will work closely with department executive leadership to achieve organizational objectives and ensure the successful execution of departmental goals and mission.
Define Strategic Plans- Collaborate with department leadership and division chiefs to establish clear and actionable strategic plans. Work closely with stakeholders to identify deliverable and measurable objectives, as well as define action items to achieve those objectives. Mission Area Scorecards- Develop and implement mission area scorecards to monitor and evaluate the performance of various departments and divisions. Analyze and present data to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement. Ensure Adherence to Internal Controls- Regulate and maintain the established business operation processing environment to reinforce adherence to internal control structures. Oversee compliance with division and departmental policies related to fiscal, human resources, space and facilities management, and operational processing. Cross-Departmental Collaboration- Identify opportunities to leverage resources and establish cross-departmental programs to enhance efficiency and achieve shared goals. Faculty Liaison and Administration- Act as a liaison with faculty, administrative, and professional personnel, ensuring adherence to University policies and procedures. Assist with administrative aspects of faculty recruitment, appointment, credentialing, and promotion processes. Supervisor- Leads and coordinates team members, overseeing workflows to achieve departmental objectives. Manages personnel through recruitment, onboarding, training, and fostering professional development pathways. Drives staff performance by providing guidance, support, and addressing any necessary corrective measures. Designs, tracks, and evaluates job outcomes in alignment with strategic planning. Partner and collaborate with the Executive team, to recruit and retain a diverse group of talented faculty with a commitment in one or all of our academic missions of clinical care, education, and research Partner and collaborate with the Executive team to develop and maintain a faculty orientation and on-boarding program that provides our new faculty a comprehensive platform from which to achieve their greatest success as an academic anesthesiologist at the University of Virginia In collaboration with the Executive team- apply the principles of project management to departmental opportunities. Engage in a process of ongoing needs assessment Actively study and respond to emerging needs Build and maintain relationships with colleagues within the School of Medicine, and Health System, and other University Entities In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Qualified applicants must have a Bachelor's degree in business administration or health care administration with at least four years of progressively responsible project management experience. A Master’s in Business Administration or Master’s In Healthcare Administration can substitute for years of experience. Experience in an academic medical center and/or large physician group practice is preferred. Must have excellent verbal and written communication. Ability to work in a high face pace environment. Must be able to work on several projects at one time and adapt to frequent change. Experience with customer interactions is required. Must have demonstrated proficiency with MS Office applications, including documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

This position will remain open until filled. This is an Exempt level, benefited position.
