We support our people to do the best work of their lives so that they can help small businesses succeed through better tools, information and connections. Because when they succeed they make a difference, and when millions of small businesses are making a difference, the world is a more beautiful place.

About the Team

Who you'll join:

You will help execute an integrated program of diverse and creative communications campaigns aligned to our business strategy to maximize media exposure and brand awareness in both the US and Canada, as well as help manage internal communications (e.g., monthly all-hands meetings, sourcing and writing stories for our internal comms platform, Xpresso).

Reporting to the Head of Communications, North America, this role works closely with our retained PR agencies (2), collaborating with our global communications and marketing/sales teams, as well as Xero partners and customers to deliver desired outcomes.

What you'll do

  • Lead / support global and regional communications campaigns, both externally and internally.
  • In conjunction with our agencies, draft and review content for a variety of channels and audiences - including blogs, media releases, pitches and articles to help Xero tell its story.

  • Contribute toward the broader Xero communications strategy and team efforts, which incorporate PR, analyst relations, government relations, community and content.
  • Brainstorm and implement ways for execs to expand pre-existing thought leadership.
  • Support executives / people managers in how to effectively communicate important messages; schedule / host workshops as needed.
  • Brainstorm and implement ways to more efficiently communicate internally.
  • Manage, optimize and run region-wide calls - e.g., monthly all-hands.

About you

  • 4-6 years of experience in communications and public relations
  • Technology experience, and an understanding of the SMB (small and medium-size business) market is highly desirable
  • BA in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or Marketing preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with general management, marketing colleagues, vendors, partners, customers and members of the public sector and business community
  • Strong writing skills with a distinctive tone of "human" and "accessible," and ability to communicate clearly and concisely whilst maintaining engagement
  • A self-starter who thrives in a fast-moving environment and can work collaboratively and effectively with geographically-dispersed teams

Offering very generous paid leave to use however you'd like (plus statutory holidays), dedicated paid leave to care for your physical and mental wellbeing as well as an Employee Assistance Program to access mental health care for you and your family, employee resource groups, wellbeing programming and allowances, medical, dental, vision, and disability insurance, fertility and family forming financial support, 401k contribution matching, 26 weeks of paid parental leave for primary caregivers, an Employee Share Plan, beautiful offices with snacks and break areas, flexible working, career development and many other benefits that reflect our human value, you'll do the best work of your life at Xero.

Research has shown that women and underrepresented groups are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single competency or experience. If you are excited about this role, but your past experience doesn't align perfectly, we encourage you to apply anyway. You could be just the right person for this role and Xero. If you have any support or access requirements, we encourage you to advise us at time of application and throughout the interview process.
