Field Service Engineer

One of my best clients, a leading manufacturer of precision CNC manufacturing cutting tools, is looking for a traveling Field Service Engineer to work remotely.

A bit about the company:

For over 40 years, they have been a leading producer of cutting machine tools worldwide, making top-of-the-line CNC machines, 5-axis, etc. You definitely have heard of them. With operations nationally and internationally, they are recession durable. This is a long-term opportunity to grow with a leading global, stable, structured company. Those looking to build their skills with real-world experience in the field.

The job:

  • Provide customers with maintenance, repair, and installation assistance for CNC machine tools on-site or by telephone.
  • Create and update documentation of technical information.
  • Contribute to product development by assisting and training the end customer's Service Engineers on installing and maintaining newer product lines.
  • Establish and build exemplary communication and customer service relationships with customers. (There's a tech team that supports the Field Service Engineers in-house, so they don't have to have 100% every answer from beginning to end; trust that they have support when in the field.)

Details:

  • Field Service Engineers are hourly with the opportunity for overtime, so all that travel time gets paid
  • Seventy-five percent travel and up, so it is best to be close to the airport. Traveling weekly.
  • All travel is paid for, and you get paid while you travel. If it makes sense to stay the weekend, do what works best; they are happy to pay for the weekend stay. Of course, you are reimbursed if you use your vehicle. They take care of their team very well because they can.

Credentials Desired:

  • Associate degree or bachelor's in a technical field, trade schools, or certificates work too.
  • They hope to find experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance of CNC machine tools. Some metal familiarity. Installation, repairs, etc. Programming and operating CNC machines with 3,5,7 axis. Internships or job experience with CNC machines in any way is of interest.
  • It's great if they find experience operating or maintaining robotics: Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Haas, Mori Seiki or other machines, Siemens controls or Heidenhaim is a plus.
  • Proven ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and sequence (PLC) ladder diagrams.
