About the Job

The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Division of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R), at the University of Minnesota announces an outstanding opportunity to join a dynamic and growing academic medicine department as an academic inpatient physiatrist providing care within a 30-bed, CARF-accredited, comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation facility (IRF) and inpatient physiatry consultations within a large, academic healthcare center. As an inpatient provider, the candidate's responsibilities will include providing direct inpatient care activities on the ARC and hospital inpatient consultation.

The M Health Fairview Acute Rehabilitation Center (ARC) is a CARF-accredited Comprehensive Medical Inpatient Rehabilitation and Stroke Specialty Program. Common diagnoses include stroke, brain injury, debility/complex medical, spinal cord injury, cardiac/pulmonary, orthopedic, other neurological conditions, and limb loss. Candidates have an opportunity to grow an outpatient practice, if desired.

Duties & Responsibilities:

* Provide direct inpatient care activities at the M Health Fairview ARC
* Provide inpatient physiatry consultations at the University of Minnesota Medical Center (UMMC)-East Bank and West Bank, as well as other M Health Fairview affiliated sites
* Participation in call coverage at the ARC on a rotating basis and provide inpatient coverage for vacations
* Grow an outpatient practice, including general PM&R follow-up clinics, if desired
* Work with APP's and trainees (medical students, residents, fellows, visiting students, and other allied health professionals)
* Close all patient encounters before eight (8) calendar days


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Physiatrists must be a graduate of an accredited PM&R residency training program, be board-certified or board-eligible with the American Board of PM&R (ABPM&R), be eligible to obtain a Minnesota Board of Medical Practice license and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges. Applicants must possess the skills to manage change and communicate effectively in a rapidly expanding department. Enthusiasm, a collaborative nature, and an interest in cultivating a thriving academic rehabilitation program are essential to the success of the department and the M Health Fairview physiatry program.

The ideal candidate will be committed to excellent patient care, possess strong clinical skills, have outstanding interpersonal skills, and have an interest in education and scholarly activity.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience collaborating with individuals across multiple departments, practices, and health systems
* Interest in limb loss desired, but not required


About the Department

As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the candidate will join an active academic physiatry clinical practice and a growing academic department. Faculty members mentor residents, fellows, medical students, and allied health professionals; including teaching, training, and general supervision in a clinical setting. Academic track and rank are determined by the applicant's qualifications and interests. Academic time is used to pursue scholarly work in the candidate's area of specialty/research expertise. Faculty will be active in their national organizations and foster an academic environment.
