Project Engineering Manager Opportunity

A local, Nebraska-proud global manufacturer is seeking a skilled and motivated Project Engineering Manager to join the team in the mobile electrification sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing engineering projects, leading technical teams, and ensuring the successful completion of large-scale projects. This candidate will also have comfort interfacing with our customer base and offer project support to customers with the integration of our products into their own production processes..

Project Engineering Manager Responsibilities:

  • Manage a group of engineers and designers to complete project-specific engineering activities.
  • Accountable for resource allocation within the Project Engineering team, risk assessment and reduction activities, and project due dates for technical deliverables.
  • Assure timely completion of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), large projects, and custom-engineered solutions.
  • Coordinate with sales and project management teams to allocate resources and manage resource workloads.
  • Lead technical review of specifications for quotations and large contract risk assessment; take action to reduce risks on active projects.
  • Lead activities related to large project custom-engineered solution development including designing, modeling, prototyping, evaluation, and testing.
  • Review design risk assessment, verification, and validation activities to ensure products meet customer's technical and contractual requirements.
  • Build application and product knowledge by developing design standards and coordinating the standardization roadmap.
  • Support research and development activities; create appropriate designs of experiments, and provide feedback concerning test results.
  • Monitor and manage department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and work to continuously improve the quality of engineering outputs.
  • Review Corrective Action Reports (CARs) and provide support to address root cause and close issues.
  • Travel regionally and internationally to perform on-site inspections for large projects and support commissioning activities.

Project Engineering Manager Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; or equivalent education.
  • Licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer (PE) in Nebraska with the ability to obtain reciprocity in other states.
  • 3-7 years of experience managing, leading, and coaching a technical team.
  • Experience with technical review of specifications for quotations and large contract risk assessment.
  • Ability to manage long project timelines and maintain a high level of productivity to achieve project milestones.
  • Experience writing design standards and using 3D modeling software.
  • Understanding and experience with regulatory codes such as UL, CSA, NEC, and NFPA.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Critical thinking and process-oriented mindset to resolve open issues and focus on continuous improvement throughout the team.
  • Willing and able to travel nationwide and internationally (expected travel 10%).
