Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Direct and mentor a team of engineers and designers, overseeing engineering tasks specific to projects.
  • Resource Management: Responsible for resource distribution, risk evaluation, and adherence to project timelines for technical outputs.
  • Technical Supervision: Evaluate and authorize Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), design packages, BOMs, mathematical data, and other technical documents.
  • Project Coordination: Ensure the prompt completion of substantial projects and custom-engineered solutions, working closely with sales and project management teams.
  • Specification Evaluation: Conduct technical assessments of specifications for bids and large contract risk evaluations.
  • Custom Solutions Oversight: Manage all aspects related to large project custom-engineered solutions, including design, modeling, prototyping, evaluation, and testing.
  • Design Guidelines: Establish design standards for transit systems and components, supporting research and development initiatives.
  • KPI Management: Track and manage departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure team effectiveness.
  • Issue Resolution: Review Corrective Action Reports (CARs) and assist in root cause analysis to address challenges.
  • Field Inspections: Travel as necessary to conduct on-site inspections and support commissioning tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; equivalent education and experience will be considered.
  • Experience: 3-7 years of experience in managing, leading, and mentoring a technical team.
  • Licensing: Licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer (PE) in Nebraska, with the capability to obtain reciprocity in other states.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with technical reviews, design risk assessments, and regulatory standards (UL, CSA, NEC, NFPA).
  • Software Skills: Proficient in 3D modeling software.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong critical thinking and process-oriented mindset aimed at continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to Travel: Open to national and international travel (10%).
