Summary

The Chief of Diagnostics Integrated Clinical Community (ICC) will function as a Radiologist and be responsible for the overall operation of the imaging and laboratory departments. Chief will provide oversight of the clinical aspects of the Diagnostic ICC, including budget and fiscal management, human resource management, strategic planning, and program development, assuring clinical and administrative functions are integrated in order to provide optimum utilization of the available resources.



Duties

The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers. The incumbent ensures the quality and timeliness of the services provided, customer satisfaction, as well as compliance with standards of accrediting bodies such as the Joint Commission and the Inspector General's Combined Assessment Program. The incumbent ensures appropriate use of available resources and is responsible for inspiring, motivating, and guiding Diagnostic ICC staff in achieving the strategic goals and plans of the service. The incumbent collaborates with other Service Chiefs and program managers, in fulfilling his/her responsibilities. Diagnostic ICC is aligned under the Chief of Staff.

DUTIES:

  • Provide consultative, prescriptive and ordering authority in both the outpatient and inpatient settings
  • Collaborate with referring providers to ensure quality of care and timeliness for Veterans
  • Demonstrates leadership in interpreting and supporting the VISN mission, vision and values, while operating in accordance with Veterans Health Administration (VHA) policies, facility and VISN policies, and standards of federal professional and accrediting agencies external to VHA.
  • Adheres to the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations as set forth by the medical staff.
  • Reviews quality control and quality improvement procedures performed by VA personnel in the Diagnostic ICC and makes recommendations for improvements, corrective actions, etc.
  • Participates/reviews and documents performance of Radiologist, including, peer review programs, and accreditation requirements.
  • Serves as an active member of various Medical Center committees.
  • Responsible for action in matters such as promotions, selections, on the job training, awards, EEO complaints, labor relations, disciplinary actions, training, and career development.
  • Responsible for the development of mechanisms to assure staff competency and continuing education compliance.
  • Establishes employee performance plans that align with Agency and Departmental goals and objectives and is responsible for evaluating and communicating employee performance.
  • Develops a team that is technically competent and understands the interrelationship of the Diagnostic ICC with other facility departments to achieve the mission of the Medical Center and VISN.
  • The incumbent receives broad and general supervision by the senior management team. This senior management team is involved in significant policy decisions and is apprised of all significant actions by the incumbent.

Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Eligible

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
