Key Responsibilities:

As the Director of Psychiatric Services, you will play a crucial role in our adolescent treatment program. Reporting to the Executive Director, you will be responsible for conducting initial assessments of residents facing mental health challenges and providing therapeutic support to those in need.

  • Actively participate as a vital member of the mental health team.
  • Oversee the psychiatric care provided to all residents.
  • Review medical histories for prospective residents to ensure medical clearance.
  • Guarantee that psychiatric evaluations are completed within 48 hours of admission.
  • Provide assistance to residents requiring psychiatric support during their treatment.
  • Conduct staff training sessions on relevant psychiatric topics and standards.
  • Participate in weekly treatment team meetings.
  • Collaborate with the medical and clinical directors and other essential team members.
  • Support outreach efforts to establish relationships with hospitals.
  • Work closely with the APRN staff.
  • Document patient interactions through progress notes and electronic medical records.
  • Manage a caseload and collaborate with the psychiatry team, including APRNs and nursing staff.
  • Coordinate psychological services with clinical staff as needed.
  • Engage with the psychiatry team on shared cases and treatment discussions.
  • Provide cross-coverage for psychiatry team cases when necessary.
  • Assist with patient admissions, including initial evaluations and documentation.
  • Serve as a liaison for patient families and outpatient providers.
  • Participate in utilization reviews for clients.
  • Maintain clear communication with clinical team members, outpatient providers, and family members.
  • Complete discharge recommendation assessments as part of collaborative summaries.
  • Work within a collaborative environment, adhering to Physician Collaborative Agreements.
  • Demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care for patients.
  • Handle administrative responsibilities, including staff scheduling.
  • Fulfill full-time duties with some on-call responsibilities.
Qualifications:
  • Doctorate in Medicine (MD).
  • Board Certification in Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatry.
  • Current licensure in the state.
  • Preferred experience in adolescent psychiatry.
  • Experience in a residential treatment setting is advantageous.
  • Leadership experience as a Medical Director or Physician is preferred.
