Job Summary

The Student Engagement Coordinator supports FGCU R.I.S.E. (Real Independence, Successful Employment) students living on campus at FGCU and assists students as they utilize residential resources. Works closely with housing staff, student organizations, and campus programming groups to increase the campus engagement of all R.I.S.E. students. Plans events, connects students with campus activities, and communicates with students' families.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Coordinates services, resources, and engagement activities for FGCU R.I.S.E. students who live in on-campus housing.
  • Collaborates with Housing staff to enhance support for R.I.S.E. students who live in campus housing.
  • Works closely with campus partners to coordinate opportunities for all R.I.S.E. students to engage in campus student programming. Collaborates with student organizations, events, and programs across campus to facilitate R.I.S.E. student engagement with campus activities.
  • Plans, coordinates, implements, and attends R.I.S.E. program events, including open house and student orientation.
  • Supports students to participate in and complete service-learning experiences including arranging and monitoring.
  • Contributes to the R.I.S.E. social media presence, including creating and posting content.
  • Communicates with families of R.I.S.E. students as needed.
  • Advises and collaborates with campus partners to provide students with resources, support, and advocacy.
  • Researches and resolves complex issues and works with campus partners to solve problems as appropriate.
  • Establishes performance goals and measures to evaluate success of assigned area of responsibility.
  • Collects data and assists with assessing the effectiveness of the overall and individual programs to supervisor and appropriate stakeholders.
  • Participates in developing new initiatives and leads projects to implement program enhancements.
Other Duties:
  • Serves on department as well as cross-campus committees for special event planning and programming.
  • May train and provide daily priorities to student workers as assigned.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.
Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:
  • This position requires either eight years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Special Education or related field and four years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in Special Education or closely related field.
  • Florida teaching certificate.
  • Experience teaching daily living skills to individuals with disabilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to the position.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively in a team environment.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
