The Position:
This recruitment will be used to fill vacancies through the CaliforniansForAll Youth Workforce Development Program (CA4ALL).

This program is intended to increase youth employment, and help address urgent challenges in their communities, while simultaneously learning key skills to develop youth interest in and experience towards a career.

The experience and skills gained through this program will help these individuals develop into potential long-term public employees.
Please note, applicants who do not meet the CaliforniansForAll Grant requirements will not be considered for the position.

The Apprentice performs a variety of entry-level work, of a well-defined, routine and repetitive nature in support of City services at the Police Department; and perform related duties as required.

Apprentices assigned to the Police Department may be assigned to the following:

Community Affairs – will edit photos/videos/media to be used for community engagement or recruitment, regularly post/update Department social media platforms, attend community events to assist with photography or other technical needs.

Applicants with an interest in social media/graphic arts are encouraged to apply.

Property/Evidence Unit – will assist in the processing, storage, and retrieval of evidence and property in the safekeeping of the Police Department.

Will assist in receiving, cataloging, and processing items of evidence into the Property and Evidence Room. The apprentice will assist in entering and maintaining evidence and property data in the Department's Records Management System.

Records Unit – will assist with routine data entry and records management, scanning/filing documents, answering phones, and assisting officers with archived reports for trial.

Fleet Maintenance – will assist the Fleet Expeditor with transporting police vehicles to and from the City yards for routine and emergency maintenance.

Will assist with special projects related to the police vehicle fleet.
